Making money with Adsense seems to be on almost every blog I’ve visited that’s monetized. Even for blogs that have yet to join in the band wagon, I’ll bet it’s just a question of time when they do.

Google is the undisputed king of the search engines, and accounts to to about 75% of all searches.

If you have a Google Adsense account, and there are lots of ways and techniques on how to increase your Google adsense earnings, does it make sense for someone to learn whatever it takes to make money?

General Testing and Tracking Your Ads

One of the most important factors that determine how successful you can be to increase your adsense earnings is to constantly track and test your ads. Testing includes different ad formats, colors and placements.

Specific Testing - Split Testing

Some of the techniques adopted by successful bloggers who make respectable google adsense earnings may look simple but sometimes a little hard to rationalize. Perhaps it’s because we haven’t really understood some of the complexities of the human behaviour or preferences in our daily lives.

While doing this research on how to earn from adsense I found many interesting techniques, many of them from well known bloggers. One important adsense tip came from a guest blogger at Problogger and that is to do split testing :

Now going back to the behavior we talked about. Which type of Google adsense ad do you prefer to see:

Right Aligned or Left Aligned Ad - which is better?

The Blogger split tested 3 separate regions on his site.

This ad region that made the most money for him was at the top of each individual post page (but not on the homepage) from .

  • The right aligned ad got a 0.78% CTR and $1.41 eCPM
  • The left aligned ad got a 1.30% CTR and $5.31 eCPM

Clear winner: left aligned (276% improvement)

Perhaps the left aligned ad looked more natural and pleasing to the eye.

Making money with Adsense is dependent on two fundamental criteria:

1. Traffic

2. Conversion

There are many bloggers who  focus only on niche marketing and see Google adsense earnings becoming their main source of income. For these people, finding a good niche and doing keyword research are two of the most important things that contribute to their success.

Find out from some of these videos how some bloggers have also made all this possible.

How to do Keyword Research for your niche site

I have just been learning a little about Niche Marketing and have so far found it very interesting. I have one niche site and have a feeling I’ll be adding at least one more pretty soon so that I can effectively put my niche domain to work. While making my rounds visiting other blogs I came across an Opt-in page thatled me to a great video that explains a powerful way of doing keyword research for your niche blog. I went ahead and joined the list to access the free Micro Niche Finder videos and I’m glad I did. It was indeed an eye opener.

Google Adsense ads- How to get a high conversion

While most of us are pretty familiar with understanding the importance of  getting traffic, the harder part seems to be how to get a high conversion when the traffic arrives i.e increase adsense clicks.

Focus on how to make your adsense ads more appealing and located at the most visited spots. Example an adsense ad on your individual post seems to get more adsense clicks than your blog homepage.

If you place your adsense ad on your blog which belongs to a top niche,  chances are that you are not going to get too excited about your adsense earnings as these ads will show a wide variety of topics. If there is one thing you must know is this - the narrower the niche, the more suitable Google adsense ads you will get. So the key is clearly to find a narrow niche, with less competion that pays a higher cost per click (CPC).

The good thing about having a niche blog is that you could purchase a domain for your particular niche name after choosing this niche that pays good CPC on your main keyword. Just write a few pages of content and place your adsense blocks and images and wait for traffic and adsense dollars.  Well not quite. While the principle is right, to see better results you do need to do little more than this especially if you are not ranking on the first page. That’s where your link building efforts and submission of some articles to article directories come in.

But there is a better way to do niche marketing:

Outsource the whole process.

Find a company that helps you get 100% of the revenue from your domain name. One that designs and fully optimizes each domain to a full, content rich, PPC optimized, eye appealing website. Each website consists of more than 500, web pages, containing your Adsense or YPN code.
